Last minute choice and lucky to get a table! - We were meeting a friend in Banbury and this looked like a nice place with a good menu. It was sunny and very busy. I was lucky to ask at the main desk and be able to get a table outside as they were nearly all reserved. Service was excellent. Food was superb. I shared a pizza with my partner which was so delicious. My signature toblerone cheesecake melted in your mouth. One of my best cheesecakes and I love them! Sarah liked her sticky toffee pudding. We didn't have cocktails but saw many amazing ones around us. We would definitely eat here again!
Brilliant quality food and great atmosphere made a lovely date night on our holiday to banbury. Gunpowder chicken was fantastic with real bbq taste and my partner had the rack of ribs. impressive kitchen facility with pizza oven. All at a reasonable price very friendly staff we had a great time. We also got to try the famous Toblerone cheesecake which is a must.

Great food. I've been multiple times. The wind in general are delicious. We ordered 2kg of all 3 so we could have done some of each and we left no food behind. It was plenty of food but when it's delicious, you tend to be quite greedy. Highly recommend!
I've had buffalo wings ac the USA, even in the BBQ belt... These are the best I've ever had. The pizza also rivals pizza in Italy. This will now be the only place I eat when I come to Banbury.
The Old Auctioneer surprised from the outset, and continued to surprise me. The space: Thought it was going to be small as it's a very old pub - it really wasn't. There's a large outdoor seating area that's pretty and lights up at night, and indoors there's plenty of room, with the insides decorated tastefully with bits from old forts, Spanish galleons, and wooden ammunition crates. The food and drink: Good size menu, you're bound to find something you like. The food was very nice - everything is slightly nicer than you'd expect from a pub, and it's all like that. Did I mention they do chicken wings by the kilo? The service: Pleasant - the staff are friendly and attentive, although in busy periods you can be waiting a while for drinks to arrive (big place, not so big bar space). Also seems well organised too, staff communicate with each other, which is nice. Overall, this place clearly has a belief that runs through the whole business - add details and small improvements to every aspect of the pub, and it all adds up to a great experience. It's a top notch pub.
